California knows how to party

Sadly our last day of travelling but we ended it in style with a TMZ tour. On the way to LA we saw hundreds of wind turbines. No celeb sightings, just a lot of very expensive cars. Stumbled on Freddie Bartholomew's 1936 feet and hand prints at the Chinese Theatre which was super excellent. I don't expect many of you to know who that is so all I can say is IMDB him. He was one of my first celeb crushes. Of course, like most of my the actors I've ever liked he died young. He actually died well before I was even born.
Steve won a free TMZ t-shirt for taking part in a quiz. We're now waiting at LAX to board and I'm hoping to have another celeb sighting like last time I was here. You've all heard the Danny McBride story.

Thelma and Louisaing around Joshua Tree National Park

Nearly at the end of our big adventure but we're ending it in style. Joshua Tree National Park for desert tortoise and big horn sheep spotting. Stepped outside to this beautiful sky so knew it was going to be a great day.
Took a drive around the JTNP with the top down. It was kind of like monument valley exploded leaving just piles of rubble everywhere. Had a picnic among the boulders before I fell asleep in the car and Steven took a hike. Didn't see any critters but more cactus than you can poke a stick at. Definately had the best view of California yet. Finished the day by driving to El Cuchamunga to check in then good old Johnny Rockets for dinner.

Wiz of the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert

We've been doing a lot of driving but it has been worth every minute. They call Africa the cradle of life but the things I've seen today give me doubts. We managed to be in Arizona the only time it ever rains but it couldn't ruin our trip. We got caught in a down pour as we were hiking down the Mesa Blue Trail which is like an alien landscape. Large mounds of blues, purples, white and maroon clay with deposits of petrified wood. The rain was creating streams of white to flow down into the valley. The wind was so strong that the we were not only getting covered in water but clay as well. Couldn't risk taking the camera down for close ups so you'll have to imagine it I'm afraid. The yellow of the grass is like sunshine even with the rain.
We did get a break and you can see the blue sky trying to poke through. I recommend everyone take the time to visit America even if it is just to see the painted desert. Steve and I want to come back to do the full hiking experience.......that's right me hiking. Oh and that tiny little figure in the distance is Steve.

In the land of giants...Welcome to Monument Valley

I hope this place never changes. Best part of our trip so far and that's including Carrot Topp. Absolutely breath taking. Saw a few animals too. Lots of dogs either abandoned or ferel which was sad. This little guy was at one of the look outs then ran along side the car to the next one with us. He melted even my heart so gave him some food.
Drove for the first time today. Couldn't let Steven have all the fun. So many photos so just a few of the best.
